Obituary of Grace “Sue” Schaub
Grace “Sue” Schaub, 84, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2018 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline Luber. Sue was a 1952 graduate of Notre Dame Prep School in Towson, Maryland and went on to continue her education at Bon Secours Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1955 and then working at the hospital. She married her beloved husband John Schaub in 1958 and together they raised six children. She later went back to work as a registered nurse for Glenridge Hospital and Hallmark Nursing Center until her retirement, when she worked part-time for Gentle Home Health Care and as a substitute school nurse. Sue also volunteered at the Joan Nicole Prince Home in Scotia, caring for patients in hospice. An active, long-time member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville, Sue will be remembered for nurturing and caring for others her whole life, especially her daughter Rosemary. She enjoyed having served as a 4-H leader, gardening, sewing and crocheting. Sue’s favorite travels included Rome, Israel, Egypt, Sanibel Island and the western United States.
In addition to her parents and six brothers and sisters, Sue was predeceased by her beloved daughter Rosemary Schaub.
She is survived by her husband John, children Jeff (Debbie), Greg (Rebecca), Peter (Dawn), and Daniel (Mary) Schaub; and Ann (Erik) Hoffman. She is the cherished grandmother of Emily, Rachel, Nicholas, Sophia, Addison, Emma, Danielle, Brittany, and Lillian Schaub, as well as Quinn and Leo Hoffman.
A Celebration of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 9am at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road, Glenville. Sue will be laid to rest privately at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
