Obituary of Carolyn Dawn Setzer

Carolyn Dawn Setzer, 87, of Charlton passed peacefully at home with her family by her side on June 17, 2018. Born in Schenectady to the late Milton and Catherine (Greeley) Van Vranken; she attended Nott Terrace High School. 

After high school, she married Rudy Setzer. They built their home on Woodcrest Drive in Glenville where they raised their family.

Carolyn worked for New York Telephone Co. for 42 years, she retired as draftsman in 1990. She was active in many organizations, including: The Board of Election, The Charlton Historical Society as well as volunteered at her church, Christ Episcopal Church, The Food Pantry and Noah’s Attic. 

She enjoyed working on her beautiful home in Charlton, and was a passionate antique collector. 

Predeceased by her brother Daniel Van Vranken.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Heidi Setzer (Thomas Crawford); son, Eric (Melinda) Setzer; grandchildren, Cody (Cristen Perry) Setzer, and Dustyn (Lindsay LaMarche) Setzer; brothers, John and Jack Mumford and Patrick Hord; as well as her beloved niece, Deb Greene, along with other nieces and nephews. 

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 21st, at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. from 5 to 7 PM. Funeral Service will be Friday, June 22nd, 10 AM at the funeral home, immediately followed by interment at West Charlton Cemetery.
