Obituary of Barbara (Saks) Stern

Barbara (Saks) Stern, 84, passed away June 24, 2018 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.

She was born on September 23, 1933 in Amsterdam, NY, the daughter of the late Evelyn Vinick Saks and Sydney Saks. Ms. Stern graduated from Little Falls High School and Mildred Elley Secretarial School, and subsequently attained a Bachelor of Science degree in General Education from Northwestern University, Chicago, IL, and a Master of Science degree in Health Education from the Sage College, Troy, NY.

   She began as a secretary with the NYS Thruway Authority and over the next 25 years, she worked as an administrative assistant with The Research Foundation of SUNY, followed by several years in Chicago, IL with Michael Reese Medical Center, The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and J. Walter Thompson Advertising.

   In later years, she was proprietor of The Resume Collection, serving as a resume writer, consultant, and grants writer.  Ms. Stern was predeceased by a sister, Arleen Wohl of Niskayuna.

She is survived by three nephews, Michael S. Wohl (Melinda) of Needham, Mass., Dr. James S. Wohl (Dr. Janet) of Storrs, CT, and Dr. Gary S. Wohl of Glenville, NY; 1 great niece, Sarah Wohl, 3 great nephews, Alexander Wohl, Jack Wohl and Chase Wohl, as well as several cousins.
