Obituary of Donald M. Warburton

Donald Mark Warburton was born in Warwick, Rhode Island on February 18th, 1956 to Fred and Ruth Warburton.  He was a standout hockey player at Pilgrim High School, from which he graduated in 1974. For over 35 years, he worked as a professional fundraiser, raising funds for many non-profit organizations. Though a practical decision maker, Don was infused with a free spirit, a dry wit, and acommitment to living life on his own terms.

More than almost anything, Don loved the ocean and the beach. Always looking for the next adventure, he loved traveling to the Caribbean and scuba diving among thepristine waters and marine life there. He also loved visiting Narragansett Beach and experiencing its stunning natural beauty and amazing seafood.

A huge Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan, Don enjoyed taking trips with his brothers to ballparks across the country to attend Red Sox games.

Warm, kind, and compassionate, Don had an enormous capacity to love—and was loved by so many. The love of his life was Carole, to whom he was married for 33 years. Don and Carole were soul mates, lovers, best friends, and partners in mischief. Don loved his kitties, Bonney and Scooter, and had a fondness for animals and children, who were magically drawn to his joyful demeanor and playfulness. Fiercely loyal, Don was a caring, committed friend. “Uncle Donny” had an approachable presence about him, freely starting conversations with friends and strangers alike. Though he only met his baby granddaughter twice, the two formed a fast and close bond.

Don is survived by his wife Carole, his son Brock, his granddaughter Charlotte, six siblings, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Don has touched the lives of so many around him. We will remember him, and he will be in our hearts always.

Memorial contributions in Don's memory may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation 53 Maple Ave Schenectady, NY 12302 or to AMFAR - The Foundation for AIDS Research
