Betty Cook

Obituary of Betty Cook

Betty J. Cook, 78, by the hand of our Lord went to eternal peace and comfort, surrounded by her loving family on July 26, 2013. She was born on August 22, 1934, the daughter of the late Orrin and Hazel Cook. She had amazing wisdom, strength, courage and love beyond anything imaginable. She loved spending time with her children, granchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed listening to music; her favorite song was Keeper of the Stars and praying for everyone. She had a compassion for love and life. She is survived by her beloved children, Betty Roberts (Harry Roberts), Melissa McKenna (Kevin McKenna), Katrina Grant (David Grant), Cheryl Cook, Brian Cook (Carol Cook), Darryl Cook, and April Hansen; two sisters, Patricia Lyons and Rose Turner; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved extended family, Floyd Howard, Lloyd Howard, Kathy Savage, Clayton Howard, Harold Howard, and Kelley Guilder. She was predeceased by extended family member, David Howard; four brothers, Frederick Cook, George Cook, Orrin Cook Jr., and Raymond Cook; four sisters, Gladys Howard, Mary Merriman, Margaret Roberts, and Alice Brinkman. She said this prayer to everyone, especially her children every night: May God watch over you and put his healing hands upon you. Give you the strength, wisdom and courage you need to turn your life around, so you can have a happier and healthy life. God loves you and I love you, goodnight and sweet dreams. Amen. The family and friends of Betty Cook wish her well as she journeys into her new found life. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the A5 staff and Pastoral Care of Ellis Hospital for their compassion, care and medical assistance to our mother. The staff went above and beyond the call of duty, and every single person that cared for her, she said they are my angels. A funeral service for Betty will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., East Glenville. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the funeral home from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in Park Cemetery, Sacandaga, Rd., Scotia.
