Obituary of Richard Pearce

Richard Dick Pearce Ballston LakeRichard Dick Pearce, 81, owner of Lakeside Farms, Ballston Lake died July 30, 2013 at Ellis Hospital. Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1953-57. He entered military service in Fort Carson, CO and was shipped to Germany, where he was stationed 18 months. He proudly served his country as a member of the 8th Infantry Division, 41st Tank Battalion. Dick was involved with the family run business, Lakeside Farms, since a small boy. He always stayed busy with chores that needed to be done around the farm. He wintered in Florida at Tropical Isle for several years where he enjoyed the company of fellow snowbirds. Dick always had a dog, a special friend that never complained of the long hours spent around the farm. Dick enjoyed immensely the expansion of Lakeside Farms over the years and was always in the background going about his business. He enjoyed playing poker with his pals and held membership in the Elks Club for 37 years. Survivors include his beloved wife, M. Lorraine (Bobar) Pearce; daughter, Lisa Martin; sons, Jeffrey and Richard Pearce; stepchildren, Connie Peeples, Jack Morris, Kathy Brayman and Ralph Morris; a sister, Carol Drummond; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, at First Presbyterian Church, 209 Union St., Schenectady. Calling hours will be held Monday, August 5, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Scotia (intersection Route 50). A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made in Mr. Pearce's name to the Memorial Fund at First Prsbyterian Church, 115 Union Street Schenectady, NY 12305 or to the American Cancer Society .
