I first met Mike in seventh grade and we became friends instantly and I got to know his Mom, Dad and siblings well – especially Sal and Sue. Later we became teammates playing on the freshman football team as eighth graders and helped Scotia-Glenville to become a formidable football team in the Suburban Council during the mid-1970s and then again as teammates and Co-Captains of the Tartans Wrestling Team which won the Section 2 Class ‘A’ Championship in 1976. As many know, Mike was a competitor, a world class wrestler, and a gifted artist. But Mike had bigger accomplishments -- as a great husband, a great father and grandfather, and a true friend to all that knew him. But mostly, Mike was a great person with a big heart -- if Mike was your friend it was for life. Though life sent us on separate paths, I am comforted to have reconnected with him and his family over the past three years and for this I am forever grateful. I will miss him, but I do have many great memories of Mike both on and off the athletic field and for that I will never forget. Rest in peace Mike, you fought the good fight my friend, until we meet again. “Z”

Holly, we were so sorry to hear about Mike. What great memories we have of our boys playing ball together at Collins Park. Mike was always so involved. And his parents were at every game cheering on Dan and Mike. What a wonderful family you have. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your sons.

I am deeply saddened to read of Mike's passing in today's paper. What a wonderful student for a young teacher like myself to have in the 1970s. Mike was always positive and loaded with enthusism, a great student and super athlete. He was a strong role model for the other students at SG. What a bonus to have Mike's son later in my career and to meet his wife. I feel certain that he met his health challenges head-on, and directed high energy to the fight, as he did with all things during his life. I will remember Mike in my prayers.
