Tante Marga came to the United States the year I was born, 1954 and became my Godmother. She and our Mom, Evelyn Fatum, her 1st cousin, spoke in German nearly every day as we were growing up. We spent so many happy times together either at our house on Scotch Ridge Road, Schenectady or at Tante Marga and Len's house on Sanders Ave., Scotia. I had the pleasure of spending time with her sister, Tante Rene and her parents, Onkel George & Tante Elizabeth in Worms, Germany when I traveled there with my Oma & Opa. Oma, Victoria Joerz, was Marga's Tante, or Aunt. When I grew up I spoke with Tante Marga pretty regularly by phone and after Len's passing, we visited her at her home in Glenville each summer, sharing many good memories.
