Obituary of Thomas D. Tearno

Dateline: Burnt Hills

Thomas D. Tearno, 86, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 7, 2021. Born on July 29, 1935, in Jersey City, New Jersey he was the son of the late Anna and Dante Tearno.

Tom married his high school sweetheart Patricia Palanchi on July 28, 1957. Together they shared 64 years of marriage.

Upon graduating from Nott Terrace High School in 1954, he immediately joined the Marines, serving in the Korean War. Tom always aspired to be a Marine from the time he was a young boy. As the saying goes “Once a Marine, always a Marine” and Tom carried that mantra through life, always being organized, disciplined, focused and direct. After serving in the Marines, he began his career in sales with the Folsom Corporation which led him on a path through sales, retail management and as corporate buyer. Tom retired from the Golub Corporation in 1999.

Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling (even racing snowmobiles on Saratoga Lake). He especially enjoyed being on his boat on Lake George with his wife and friends. Above all he cherished the time he was able to spend with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife Patricia, Tom is survived by his son Glenn Tearno of Porter Corners, NY, and his beloved granddaughter Claire Tearno. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Dante Tearno Jr. and Robert Tearno.

Funeral services for Thomas will be private. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
