I was very startled and heartbroken to find the obituary for Marilyn on her birthday, Friday, September 23rd, 2022 (not the 29th). I had called to wish her a Happy Birthday at her Sun Haven Manor residence (as I have been doing for the past several years) and received an automated message stating the phone number was no longer in service. Upon looking up a new contact number for the facility, I stumbled upon Marilyn's obituary. Her Gardner Road neighbors in Altamont, NY are dismayed that Marilyn's family did not reach out to us upon her passing. So many of us loved her dearly in the neighborhood. Marilyn's neighbors would appreciate details on her interment as we would like to properly memorialize her and pay our respects. We do know she has a stone/plot at Fairview Cemetery in Altamont, NY. She was a beautiful soul. I have many wonderful memories of her growing up - she was like a grandmother to me ("Grandma Smiley"). We did so much together - going to lunch, going to the movies, school shopping, just walking up to her house and visiting on the weekends. We would write to each other back and forth while I was away at college. She was always so loving and supportive. She loved her Kitties, her teddy bear and porcelain doll collections... she had taken up acrylic paint crafts and doing jigsaw puzzles in her retirement...she liked to cook...always loved reminiscing about her childhood in New Hampshire. My Mother and I traveled with her to Hampton, NH one summer many years back and we visited her beloved Aunt Gert who was a wonderful lady - quite the character! Both Marilyn and Aunt Gert had a witty sense of humor! "Grandma Smiley", you will be deeply missed. You are now Heavenly reunited with your beloved Aunt Gert. Thank you for your kindess, love, support and sweetness. I will always keep you in my heart. -Sarah Stedman, Gardner Road, Altamont
