Obituary of Marcus D. York

Marcus D. York, 47, passed away peacefully on April 9,2022 at his parent’s home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Scotia he was the son of David and Linda (Larson) York. Marcus was a 1992 graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School and went on to obtain a bachelor's degree in Architecture from SUNY Buffalo. After college Marcus moved to Steamboat Springs Colorado where he worked as an Architect. He then moved to Homer, Alaska and most recently Huntington, Vermont where he built his dream home.  He worked for various firms as an Architect and Contractor for many years. Marcus was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, kayaking and skiing. Marcus was very environmentally conscious and would go the extra mile to minimize his carbon footprint. One could often find him listening to his favorite bands the Grateful Dead and Phish. Above all, Marcus enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his family and his dogs.

Left to honor his memory are his parents David and Linda (Larson) York, his sister Nicole Denney and his nieces Caitlin and Jessie Denney. Also surviving are his canine companions Rocco and Sadie.

Funeral services for Marcus will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Community Hospice, 310 S. Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208 for the wonderful care he received.
