Obituary of Robert “Bob” Gardiner

Robert “Bob” Gardiner, 69, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2022 at Albany Medical Center with his family at his side. Born in Schenectady he was the son of the late Henry and Angeline (Scaccia) Gardiner. Bob was a graduate of Bishop Gibbons High School in 1970 and went on to attend Schenectady County Community College and received his master’s degree from SUNY Plattsburgh. For the past 9 years Bob was a Safety Representative for the New York State Canal Corporation. He enjoyed collecting antiques, coaching and refereeing volleyball, reading, trips to Gettysburg, and history. Bob married his beloved wife Mary (Luskin) Gardiner on November 14, 1992. Above all he cherished the time he was able to spend with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law Kathleen D’Allaird (Joseph) and Patricia Priest (Mark). Also surviving is his nieces and nephews Frederick Apfel, III (Jennifer), Daniel Priest, Christopher Priest (Becky), Laura D’Allaird (Arnab), Michael D’Allaird and Mary Catherine D’Allaird. His great nieces Marleigh Priest, Maggie Priest, Tara Mukherjee and Arya Mukherjee along with his beloved Kowalski and Scaccia cousins also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Judy DeBlaso.

Calling hours for Bob will be held on July 14, 2022 from 4-7pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on July 15, 2022 at 9am at St. Anthony’s Church, 331 Seward Place, Schenectady. Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Glenville.
