Sue and family,
I was so sorry to learn of Bill’s passing and extend my condolence to you and your family. I worked closely with Bill over many years and have deep admiration for his commitment and professionalism, but most importantly his spirit and gentle and loving way with people. It was my great pleasure and honor to know and work with Bill, and will carry a special place in my heart for him. God bless him and you in this time of his passing.

Chuck - I often remember Bill coming home from work and mentioning he was in a meeting or conversation with you. I think you both shared a love of the outdoors and the Adirondacks. Thank you for your kind words about Bill. His SI friends were important to him. Sincerely, Susan

I will miss my Uncle Bill very much. He greatly enriched our gatherings with his many, freely shared enthusiasms. Through him, I knew and enjoyed the poems of Robert W. Service, and I don’t think there was ever a campfire rendition as captivating as his. And he first introduced me to great strategy games like Acquire and Scotland Yard. With a chief of detectives like him, Mr. or Ms. X never had a chance! And remember his generosity in passing on the 80s video game wonder of Rings of Zilfin to my brother and I. I spent countless hours playing that game. And the geocatching ... and the hammer dulcimer ... and taking a picture of the group’s feet at a mountain summit marker to commemorate a hike ... so many memories of him. I will definitely be there in spirit with the family as you honor his wonderful life.

I am so sorry to hear about Bill. It was always fun to have him on our team for hockey. He truly enjoyed the game and was always very positive on and off the ice; he never had a bad word about anyone. It was a privilege to know him and play hockey with him.
With sympathy,
Debbie J.

I had the good fortune of meeting Bill and Sue a few years back when I was invited in to do some remodeling work for them and since then invited back 2-3 more times. I will never forget the first time I heard Bill playing his hammered dulcimer in the back room while I was remodeling their bathroom. This beautiful angelic sound somehow made it past the loudness of power tools and demolition and stopped me dead in my tracks. What is this beautifully unusual sound. I must investigate.
It was at that point that our common love for music and stringed instruments was established and would be the topic of conversations for years to come! An interesting man with eclectic interests. A wonderful conversationalist . A true gentleman thru and thru with a heart as big as the great outdoors! It's not often in life that one is privileged to meet someone as such and I consider myself lucky to have.
I will miss him.
It's said you can't take it with you... but if God would make one exception, and allow Bill to bring his dulcimer, he would be pleased!
God rest your soul Bill Montgomery.

I was so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. He was such a nice man, and you were all such good neighbors to my mom in her last years, as well as to me as I was clearing out the house. I loved talking to Bill about folk music and the hammered dulcimer, and will continue to think of him whenever I hear one.
