Joey, I think of you often and wish that you were still with us. You were always a good friend, and time and distance never made a difference in the memories that we shared. I hope that your soul is at rest and your spirit in paradise. I will always remember you, my friend, and I promise to look for you when I, too, cross over to the Other Side.

I was shocked to hear the news this morning from my sister, Liz Beaudoin, about Joey's sudden passing. I knew Joey and all of the Hubert boys as a child growing up in Schenectady, NY, and I even lived with him for a while at his Aunt Marie's rental house in Rotterdam in 1979, when I was 17 years old. Joey got me my first "real" job at the Price Chopper in 1978, and he was a good friend to me, my cousin, A.J., and my other cousin, Cricket, whom Joey always called by his given name, Jimmy. Although I haven't lived in Schenectady for over 30 years, I saw Joey just over a year ago at the funeral of my stepfather, John Whitney, and he was the same as I always remembered him: funny, kind, and caring, with a big smile and an even bigger heart. I wish that I could have spent more time with him during the past few years—and I will miss him as a friend, a brother, and a kind, generous, and moral human being.

I met Joey(that is what we called him) in high school. His family had moved in across the street from my cousin. I got to know and become friends with Joey and his family. Myself, my cousins and Joey and his brothers would hang out together. As we get older, we all loose touch with one another, but on occasion I would run into Joey and always knew I could find him behind the meet counter at Price Chopper. He was such a good person, always upbeat and ready to make you laugh. He always made sure to ask how I was doing as well as my family before he would ever just talk about himself. I was heart broken when I heard of his sudden death and saddened for the family as they have already lost two of Joey's brothers. Be at peace my friend and know that I have many fond memories of you. Liz
