Obituary of Elsie Morrison

Elsie M. Morrison, 90, of Maybrook Drive, passed away December 23, 2013 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Westerlo, NY on December 2, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Carry and Minnie Strevell. After graduating from nurses' training at AMCH, she worked labor and delivery at the former Brady Maternity Hospital in Albany. Following her marriage to Frank L. Morrison, she stayed at home to raise their daughter, Ellen. Ellen also graduated nurses' training at AMC. Elsie returned to nursing, working for Drs. Wells and McAvoy Dermatology in Schenectady. Elsie was also employed by the Glenridge Hospital and Glendale County Home facilities in Glenville. She was predeceased by her husband in 2000. Elsie continued to maintain the family home in Glenville and attended East Glenville Community Church until her health declined. Ellen thanks all the staff at Ellis ER, OR and ICU and the professional staff on A-5 for the care and attention given Elsie. The Morrison Family expresses their gratitude to the care givers, especially Holly Klein, Patty Civitello, Julie Stewart and Amanda Grecco for their dedication and kindness. Survivors include daughter, Ellen Nitchman (late Arthur P.) of Niskayuna; step-sons, William J. Nitchman and Robert A. Nitchman; her sister, Betty (George) Van Wie of Middleburgh; nephew, Stephen; and niece, Lynette. Funeral services will be held Friday (December 27) at 2 p.m. at Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. with Rev. Kenneth Heckeler officiating. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend and may also call prior to the services, Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Memory's Garden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Elsie M. Morrison's name to East Glenville Community Church, 335 Saratoga Rd., Glenville, NY 12302.
