I had the occasion to work with Bob for about 5 years in the late 1990's. They were stressful times as KAPL was having to absorb large budget cuts that were coming faster than the work was diminishing. Bob stood above all the other individuals involved because of his thoughtfulness and demeanor. He was always a gentleman. I remember him as one of my most favorite colleagues. My sympathies to his lovely wife whom I met several times at dances we all attended after retirement.
