Obituary of Roberto Forlano

Roberto J. Forlano, 85, of Glenville passed away peacefully on March 15, 2014 at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina he was the son of the late Bartolome Forlano and Maria Clara Forlano. He graduated from the Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires in 1948 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. After working as an engineer for several years in his native Argentina, he came to the United States on 6/22/57. He worked for several years in New York City prior to entering graduate school. He received his Master's and then finished his Doctorate in Ceramic Engineering in 1965 from the University of Illinois, during which time he worked at the Argonne National Laboratory. He was very proud to become a US citizen in 1965. He loved his adopted homeland and always had a great appreciation for being given the opportunity to live in such a wonderful country. He started working at KAPL as an engineer on November 22, 1965 and retired at age 70 on February 1, 2000. During his years at KAPL he worked as a material engineer as well as a Department Manager and lastly within the financial/budget departments. He returned to Argentina to marry the love of his life, Ana Clorinda Repetto on December 18, 1968. He had a love for horses, Argentine tango, reading and most of all, his family. He was predeceased by his brother in Argentina, Horacio Forlano. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ana Forlano, son's Bartholomew Forlano and his wife Karyn and William Forlano and his wife Tammy. He was the loving grandfather of Robert and William Forlano; Logan Wunder, Henry and Giavanna Forlano. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday March 19th at 9 AM at the church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road, Glenville with the Rev. Jerome Gingras officiating. Calling hours will be private at the convenience of the family. Internment will be held at St Anthony's Cemetery, Glenridge Road.
