Obituary of Marcellus Laures

Marcellus J. Laures went to Heaven on May 8, 2014. Marcy was born on May 26, 1937 in Central Bridge, New York to Harvey Laures and Carolyn Urban Laures. He was married to Mary Dolores Pardi on September 17 , 1960 and lived in Charlton where they raised their family. He was survived by his beloved wife Mary and their three daughters Michele Laures (Adam) Renz, Lisa (Dennis) Emerson, and Nicole (Robert) Bissonette, and their grandchildren Anna, Megan and Samuel Marcellus. He was the beloved brother of Carole (Ben) Wilcox and Mary Laures. Marcy graduated Oneonta High School in 1955. He served in the military stationed in Germany from 1958 to 1960 and graduated Hartwick College in 1961 with a degree in physics. Marcy went on to earn his degree of Master of Science in Education at SUNY Oneonta in 1966. He went on to his teaching career at Gilboa Conesville, Troy and then longtime position at Broadalbin Perth teaching Science and Physics. Over the years and after retiring, Marcy worked as an electrician and contractor. Marcy was a member of the Scotia Elks, VFW and served as an usher for many years at Proctors Theater. Marcy truly loved travelling with family and friends. He enjoyed many years spending time at his family camp, skiing and boating, and loved cards and golf with the guys. Marcy also loved tending to his yard and garden, and creating inventions at his home. Marcy was a wonderful selfless man. The best husband,father, grandfather, brother and friend any one could ever have. His family and friends were his first priority, he will be loved and missed by all. Please do not mourn him, but celebrate his life and the wonderful times we had together. Calling hours will be held at the Glenville Funeral Home between the hours of 6 and 8 pm Sunday May 11, 2104. Mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Route 50 Glenville at 11 am Monday May 12, 2014 followed by a reception in his honor at the Charlton Tavern.
