I remember one very hot day in June or July of 1972, when my dad aked me if I would like to take a ride with him to Albany. I said sure, where we going? He said that he had to go the VA hospital to interview a possible canidate for a history teacher for the next school year. So while I sat in the main lobby, my dad went to interview Mr.Graham. As we were driving home,I asked well are you going to give him the job?? His reply was, yes, I will offer it to him. Then I asked why he was in the hospital? My dad told me that he had been injuried in Viet Nam and that he hoped he would be able to start the school year that September. Mr. Graham was going to need more surgery to his knee and phyical therapy. And the rest is history. I love anything to do with history and I am greatful to Mr.Graham for inspiring that in me!!!

Mr. Graham was my history teacher in High School. I was not very good in history and, for that reason, I disliked history. At the time I was in High School, we were not required to take regents exams, but we were encouraged to do so. I declined to take the history regents in my junior year, but decided to do it in my senior year. Mr. Graham gave me the material I needed and when I took the test in January, i passed with a 65. I decided to take it again in June of that year and after he graded that one, he told me that if the test was audited in Albany, I would fail it. He generously gave me a 65 on that test as well. Thankfully, neither exam was audited and I got my regents diploma. Thank you for that Mr. Graham.

Mr. Graham was way more than my history teacher. He inspired my life long passion for science fiction -- the obsession with Robert Jordan continued for more than a decade. His quick wit, and ability to treat teenagers as equals has always stayed with me. I'm still the chatterbox that earned her very own "grenade" trophy, and gosh darn it, I still have it. As do I still treasure all of the books that were given, each with their own special note about why it was selected and what he hoped I'd learn.
Rest in Peach, Mr. Graham. You will forever live on in my heart and memories.

I think my class (HTC 1973) may have been Mr. Graham's first class there. He was a very knowledgeable history teacher. All these years I have remembered him, and never knew he served in VietNam, and certainly never realized how close in age we were. My sympathies to his family, and may his memory be a blessing.

Mr. Graham inspired me to study history and political science. I especially remember his passion for military history, especially the Civil War. His military service also inspired me to have a 24 year military career and still serving as a civilian in the Special Operations community. I have thought of him with great honor and respect over the years. He was a brave and quiet man....an inspiration. You will be missed Bob.

Mr. Graham taught me about history, but also about writing good research papers, pushing myself to always live up to my potential, enjoying classical music and a variety of books, and having a broader world view. Thank you, Mr. Graham. I am glad to have known you.

Greatest sympathies to the Family of Bob Graham. He was indeed a great history teacher and a great soccer coach. Wonderful sense of humor and always ready to play a practical joke on a student. Much respect to you Bob, for everything you've done to make my life brighter with your wit and love of history and your devotion to this country. Peace.

Oh so sorry to hear of Mr. Graham passing. He was a wonderful history teacher and soccer coach. Our class always got a kick out of him setting off toy grenades by Daryl Legg because he frequently feel asleep in class. He was a good man. Peace be with his family.

I had the honor of knowing Bob for many years. He was a loyal customer of the Book House where I worked. His character and his intellect were inspiring. His wide-ranging interests were impressive as was his devotion to his family, particularly his granddaughters. Despite his own serious health problems he never gave up or lost interest in life and never failed to show genuine concern for others, for his country or for the cause of justice in the world.
