Obituary of Candace Sweet

Candace "Candy" B. Sweet, 71, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2014 at home in the presence of her sister. Born on January 19, 1943 she was the daughter of the late Arthur F. and Gladys C. Walborn Sweet. Candy graduated from Burnt Hills High School in 1961 and went on to receive her Bachelors and Masters degree in Physical Education from Ithaca College. She retired from Shenendehowa Central School District in 2002 after 37 years as a physical education teacher. Candy proudly coached field hockey for 30 years, basketball for 12 years and softball for 10 years. She received the Section II coach of the year award in 1995 from work as a field hockey coach. When off the field, Candy simply enjoyed spending quality time with her family and celebrating the holidays. Candy was predeceased by her infant twin brother Peter R. Sweet. She is survived by her sister Kathryn A. Bleser and her husband Frederick "Corky" of Glenville. Candy is also survived by her nieces Amy K. Becker and her husband Michael of CT; Kate E. Martin and her husband Jim of Glenville and her nephew Mark J. Bleser and his wife Jessica of FL. Additionally she is survived by her great nieces and nephews Kelsey, Jack and Emily Martin, Ryan and Megan Becker, and Hayden and Dylan Bleser; her cousin Linda Johnson and her husband David as well as several other cousins. Funeral services for Candy will be held on Tuesday October 21, 2014 at 12:00pm from the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville, with Rev. Deron J. Milleville officiating. Interment will follow in Mapleshade Cemetery, Scotia. Relatives and friends may call the funeral home prior to the service from 10-12.
