Barbara Claire (Smart) Morris (Glenville)88, passed away Sunday November 30, 2014. A strong woman, she survived numerous forms of adversity to thrive as a nurse, a science enthusiast, and rare octogenarian technology sleuth. An ambitious and creative woman who made impressive art on canvas, porcelain, and knitted goods as well as in the oven, she loved her family fiercely and proudly. She was born Sept 21 1926 in Holbrook, Massachusetts. Graduating Holbrook High School on D-Day, she went on to earn her R.N. from Quincy Hospital, School of Nursing. She met her soul mate on a blind date in September of 1946, she and Thomas Graham married the following July and continued to cherish one another the entirety of their 67 year union. They are now re-united and joined eternally in death; Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Thomas G. Morris, the prior Sunday. She is survived by her daughters Patricia Abel, Jean (Antonio)Stevens-Lauria, Susan (Steven) Lohnes; her son Thomas G Morris, Jr; grandchildren, Nicholas and Joshua Abel, Todd (Kimberly) Stevens, Ms. Kimberly Stevens, Mathew (Karen) Morris, Qi-Qi Kay Deng, Kassandra Morris; Great-grandchildren, Kayla Stevens, Madison, Morgan, Meghan, and Kameron Morris. Many nieces, nephews, and Mary (Tom) Stevens Mortka also survive her. She was Nana to many. Her son-in-law, Michael John Stevens, Ph.D., also predeceased her. She often said the walls of her house stretched and could accommodate as many family and friends as needed, whether for an extended stay or a simple meal - all were welcome.
