Obituary of Robert Schlueter
Robert F. Schlueter completed his "Pilgrim Journey" on December 15, 2014 at the age of 81. His loving family was with him as Christ welcomed him home. Bob was born in Elizabeth, NJ and grew up with his brothers in nearby Linden. After serving two years in the US Army overseas in Japan, he graduated from Barrington College in R.I. and was awarded a Master's degree in Elementary Education from the University of NY at Oneonta. He loved children and taught elementary school for 29 years in the Scotia-Glenville School District (Glendaal Elementary). He enjoyed photography, camping with his family and traveling overseas with his wife, Clare.
For Bob, his family and his home in Glenville were very important to him. With his wife of 57 years, they raised two sons, Robert (Chip) married to Penny (Relyea)and Daniel, married to Crystal (Verrill). Three grandchildren: Erin, Matthew and Anna also brought him much pride and joy.
Bob loved the Lord Jesus and served him faithfully at Faith Baptist Church (Reford) and at First Presbyterian Church in Schenectady. He taught Sunday School, served as a deacon and exercised his gift of "helps" in many, many ways.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, December 18th from 5-8 PM at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville. The funeral service will be conducted on Friday, December 19th at 10 AM at First Presbyterian Church, 209 Union St., Schenectady. Following a reception at Pohling Chapel there will be a luncheon followed by committal services with military honors at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd. Schuylervile, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his honor may be made to First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 6 Schenectady, New York 12301.
