To Ken, Erin and Todd and all of Don's Family: I had the privilege to meet and work with and for Don at FE (and Hess)in the early 2000's. As all who had the same privilege to know him would attest, Don had the exceptional gift of leadership and caring rarely found in managerial positions. His giving ways were endless. His "unusual" style of leadership resulted in all who worked for him being motivated to do our very best. I stayed in touch with Don after we parted ways professionally and I considered him my mentor and friend. My hopes to seeing him again after his retirement were dashed at the sad announcement of his passing. I do, however, rejoice in the knowledge that Don trusted in Christ's complete work and that by that assurance I can look forward to seeing my friend again soon. May God bless and comfort each of you in your loss. What a legacy he leaves for all of us who knew him!

Imagine the advice you would give to your high school student upon graduation. As part of a project for my alma mater I asked Don for help and the letter he offered was "priceless". If you would like a complete copy send me an email. He spoke about Emotional Intelligence s Self-Awareness, Self-conrol, empathy, Communication skills, sel-efficacy and the abiliy to self-motivate. Wow- that is so Don.
I knew Don for the past 15 years as my manager, my mentor an mostly as my friend. When I had major surgery he even called my family to see how I was doing- almost every day. His supply of cards and well wishes was endless.
He ended his letter to those 18 year olds with
"One fact I assure you of is you'll spend the rest of your life figuring out how you want to spend it. That's how it should be! Life is constant change and evolution. You never know exactly what you want until you find it, and as soon as you do, you're off searching for the next thing that will inspire, motivate, an fulfill you. Dont sweat it. Dont rush it. Just live it!"
Thank you Don for sharing your life with us and for being an inspiration to us.
