Obituary of Donald Diel

Donald K. Diel Jr. ("Don") died peacefully on Thursday January 8th, 2015, in Manhasset, NY at the age of 70, surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late Donald Sr. and Lualene Diel, Don was born in Schenectady, NY, attended Niskayuna High School, and was a graduate of Union College. Don had recently retired from the Hess Corporation where he was an Executive Sales Manager. He is a former Boy Scout, loved the outdoors, was a fan of NASCAR and the Pittsburgh Steelers; but his true passion was positively impacting the lives of those around him. Don was a compassionate and extremely generous individual with the unique ability to attract and build friendships, and benefited the lives of many. Don is survived by Linda Diel of Auburn, NY, his three children; Ken (Julie) of Robbinsville, NJ, Todd (Amy) of Syracuse, NY and Erin (Joel) Blackwood of Niskayuna, NY, his brother Bryon (Karen) of Gansevoort, NY, as well as his six grandchildren: Kamryn, Karly, Kyle, Robert, Daniel and Abigail. The Diel family would like to express gratitude to Roslyn Coppa and her family, of River Vale, NJ, for their extraordinary support and commitment towards Don. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Glenville, NY 12302 on Friday January 16th, 2015. Calling hours will be from 9am-11am, with services from 11am-12pm, followed by private burial. Memorial contributions in Don's name are requested to be made to the American Red Cross.
