Obituary of Robert McCullough

Robert S. McCullough, 96, passed away April 11, 2015 at Capstone Manor, town of Amsterdam. He was born in Newark Valley NY on August 26, 1918, the son of the late William and Lilla Strong McCullough. Robert is survived by his wife Helen Wagner, married June 24, 1951; their daughter Nancy Schumacher (David)of Scotia; his children Charles McCullough (Judy) of Scotia and Catherine O'Brien (George) of Lecanto, FL; and step-daughters Carol Tobaisson (John) and Mary Pelton (Lawrence) both of Princetown, NY. He is also survived by many grand children, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his first wife Anna Louise Chabot, siblings Glen, Ross, Thelma, Louise and Edward. Bob attended Newark Valley Central School and served in the US Army from 1937-40 and from 1944-46. He lived in West Glenville, NY for over sixty three years. Bob was a maintenance foreman for the Scotia-Glenville School District for 30 years, retiring in 1980. He enjoyed photography, woodworking and was an avid birder. Bob built over 1000 bluebird houses which are scattered across NY. He was known by his neighbors as the West Glenville handyman who was always ready to help them with their electrical, plumbing and carpentry challenges. The McCulloughs travelled extensively across the US and Canada. There will be a private graveside service at the convenience of the family.
