Obituary of Jo-Ann E. Burke

Jo-Ann E. Burke “B”, 78, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on December 5, 2015 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peters. Born in Gloversville, New York, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Marion Tomek. Jo-Ann was a 1955 graduate of Gloversville High School and went on to obtain an associate’s degree from Schenectady County Community College. Jo-Ann married her beloved husband Richard, on June 28,1958. She worked many years for Clover Patch in Glenville as a Teacher’s Assistant aiding children with Cerebral Palsy. Jo-Ann loved being around and helping out the children. She retired after many dedicated years. She was a devoted Wife, Mother and Noney and loved spending time with her family. She was a huge New York Giants fan and enjoyed golfing with her husband. Jo Ann is survived by her beloved husband Richard F. Burke, son Richard A. (Donna) Burke, daughters Kelly (Doug) Bergen, Kathy Burke and Tina (Mark) Marcinkiewicz. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Scott, Lindsey and Molly Bergen, Ryan Pierce, Sean Tuggle, Richie and Lauren Burke, Jack and Nick Marcinkiewicz. Her great granddaughter Adelyn Pirece, her sister Marilyn Batty and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by her sister Jackie Davis. Calling hours for Jo-Ann will be held on Monday December 7, 2015 from 6-8pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday December 8, 2015 at 10:30am at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road, Glenville. Burial will take place privately at the convenience of the family in Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown, New York. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Northeastern New York Chapter, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405 Albany, New York 12205.
