A good friend is gone. Bob and I shared many experiences over the years, most of them full of laughter and teasing each other… even in his final days. Bob, our mutual friend Joe and I enjoyed many years as single men and yet, the best years were as married men. We all married late in life and had families late in life. We shared the joys of having children at an age where the immaturity and mistakes of being young had long past.
Bob was an avid radio controlled pilot. He enjoyed building planes from “scratch”; today a lost art. He was president of the Adirondack Modelers RC Club for many years. He worked harder than most. Whenever a plane was lost or up a tree (as it happened many times), Bob was the “go to” guy. He could climb faster than most. He also enjoyed the solitude of the flying field while riding the lawn mower with a bottle of Genny in his hand.
I will miss Bob. He lived a very full life, even though cut short. As I raise a beer I say, “Farewell my friend, you are finally at peace”

My sincere condolence to Bob's wife and his family. Bob was always a friendly guy and he was always excited to do something or to figure out a solution to a problem. i spent quite s few days with him in the boat while fishing with him with Albany Area Bassmasters and he was always great to fish with and I learned a lot from him. Life is too short-do it while you can with a smile -That is the way I will remember Bob.
Sincerely:

Linda, Daniel, and Jonathon,
Our favorite story of Bobby was during a bull head tournament up at the camp. We issued rules that said during the four hour tournament, only one pole per angler. Bobby was always complaining about all the rules we had, so this story is quite fitting.
the derby was slow and there was only one 30 minutes left to go. Tom Pasko had the only bullhead landed. When out of nowhere Bobby landed a much larger bull head. He was gloating quite a bit. Tommy started assessing the situation, and noticed Bobby had not one but TWO poles in the water. He immediately cried foul and asked for a ruling.
After five minutes of shore side lawyering, it was decided Bobby's bull head would be disqualified due to the second pole. Bobby swore at that moment he would never fish the bull head tourney again.
From that day forward at every bullhead derby we call it the Fortin One Pole Rule!
All of us at the camp will miss Bobby dearly.

Uncle Bobby will truly be missed. He so loved his family....
There won't be a bass boat that passes when I won't think of him.
He sure had an interesting life... from bass championships to the drum and bugle corps ...
Until we meet again.
Hugs and Prayers to you and the boys Linda....

Dear Linda, Daniel and Jonathan. Please accept my condolences for Bob's passing. He was a good friend of Jim's and they enjoyed many happy times when they were both in good health flying their planes. I hope that Bob and Jim rejoined each in conversations of the good old days. He came over to the house to see me once in a while after Jim's passing and offered his boys to help me in anything that I needed to be done. He was a very thoughtful man. It will be almost two years that My beloved left and I still find myself in much grief. Think of the good times and the happiness you both shared. God Bless you and your family.

Because I have lived over 1000 miles away from the Scotia - Burnt Hills area, my times with Bob were limited. I was able to witness his passion for fishing first hand up in the Adirondacks, and through visits to the basement in his and Lindy's house I marveled at his trains and planes collections. His ability to fix mechanical and electrical things was a help to our Mom once Dad had died, and is something passed on to his sons.
Bob was one of those "nice guys". Not a pushover, not someone without beliefs and opinions, but easy to get along with. Even just offering me a ride to the Albany airport was something he felt was no big deal, but the ride and conversation of warmth was something that somehow has stayed with me over all these years. Nothing dramatic or important was said, just us and the boys riding to the airport to drop me off and then scoring some plane-spotting for the Fortin men.
I know Bob's last days and months were not easy, either for him or for the family. Maybe that makes it easier to know that he is in a better place now - removed from cold, snow, worry, and pain.
Rest in peace, Bob. We'll be there in May!

Rest In Peace Bob! Enjoyed a lot of fun times with Bob at the legion and especially during the dart leagues. He had us rolling at times. He also wanted to find out about my interest and was genuinely interested in what made us kick. He will be missed. My condolences to the family.

Linda, Danial, and Johnathan,
We all take our turns down here and it seems your father not only made good use of his, he also enjoyed it as well. When you catch that 10-lb+ bass, give thanks to your dad.

Dear Lindy, Dan & Jon,
I am very sorry for your loss, but relieved that Bob's suffering is behind him now & that he is reunited with his parents & Don & other family up in heaven. I will miss having Bob available for advice on my home repairs when I needed him, he was so helpful to me that way. I am grateful that he always made me feel very welcome in your home after our own parents were gone, and that we had such a nice Thanksgiving together in Nov. 2015 & he really enjoyed the delicious meal you prepared for us! I am also very thankful for the many times he helped out our mother around the house when she was a widow. Bob will be dearly missed!
Love from Joyce
