Obituary of Barbara L. Todt

Barbara L. Todt, 83, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2017. Born in Montreal, Canada on June 2, 1933 she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Florence Layzell. Barbara grew up in Montreal and after high school attended the Royal Victoria Nursing School in Montreal. She married her beloved husband, Robert G. Todt, on April 14, 1956. Following their marriage Barbara moved to the United States. She worked as a registered nurse in many facilities and ultimately retired from the Glendale Nursing Facility after many years. Barbara and her husband enjoyed traveling in their motorhome all over the United States and Canada. They also spent winters at their home in Myrtle Beach. Barbara loved dogs and was active in the Schenectady Kennel Club. She was also a dedicated member of St. George’s Episcopal Church. However, Barbara’s greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She always played an active role in her grandchildren’s lives, attending all of their activities and sports. Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband Robert Todt, her daughter Deborah Todt and her sister Thelma Lovegrove. She is survived by her beloved sons Michael (Connie) Todt, James (Sarah) Todt and Robert (Lisa) Todt. She is the cherished grandmother to Stephanie (Dave Colombo), Kathleen (Jake Ronesi), Joshua, Kacie and Benjamin Todt. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Ken Lovegrove, her cousin Earl Roberts and several other cousins. Calling hours for Barbara will be held on Monday May 15, 2017 at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville, from 6pm-8pm. Funeral services will be celebrated on Tuesday May 16, 2017 at 10am from St. George's Episcopal Church, 30 N Ferry St, Schenectady, NY 12305. Burial will take place privately for the family at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Barbara’s name may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave, Scotia, NY 12302.
