With a sad heart I learned of the passing of my friend, comrade-in-arms, golf partner, and
man whom I admired, and argued with on the golf course.
Dick and I had reminisced many times about our induction into the Army, and our service in Inchon, Korea and Japan.
And now our Guidon is gone and we will miss our leader.

Dick Savage was a gifted artist, both professionally and personally. But you’d never hear it from him. He was self-effacing and humble about his talent. He’d show you his work, but grudgingly. He’d much rather hear about what you were doing. But more than that, Dick Savage was a man of uncommon kindness and decency – one of this planet's truly good people. Of prominent physical stature, Dick was affectionately known as the "Big Guy". You looked up to him figuratively and literally. I will remember Dick for his big laugh, his big personality, and his big heart. He was my friend and mentor, generous of his time, a man I will never forget. He loved his family. He loved his friends. His shoes will never be filled. Rest in peace, Big Guy.
