David, Gavin and family,
Deepest sympathy on the loss of Sally. We worked together for many years at Stevens and I was blessed to have her work with me in the classroom. She always had a special place in her heart for the students who needed additional support.
She often spoke about her family and I was especially thankful to have Gavin as a student in my classroom. Sally’s focus on kindness and respect for others were character traits that Gavin exemplified. A tribute to Sally who recognized the importance of training children to display character traits that would benefit them in years to come. She’ll be greatly missed. My heart is sadden by her unexpected passing.

Dear David and Gavin,
Our hearts are breaking for you. We extend our deepest condolences during this difficult time.
Sally created many beautiful memories for us, she will forever be known in our household as "Silly Sally." A nickname that stuck when she read the children's book to Nikki's kindergarten class over fifteen years ago. She lived a life full of grace and love. Sally was a wonderful person that has built many friendships. She will forever be missed but these joyous memories will last forever in our hearts.
Our prayers are with you.

Sally worked with several of my children over the years as they went thru Stevens. She was a wonderfully warm and caring person. Over the years, I had many great conversations with her where she provided me with tons great advice and support. Her lasting effect on all the children she touched will last a lifetime.

To Sally's family, and the Stevens family as well,
Being a bus driver out of Stevens for 14 years I got to see Sally often. She would walk the kids out to my bus in the afternoon and say " Come on my dingy dongy bells!". I drove the "Bell" bus. She was also in my daughters class in 3rd grade with Dina Wakulenko. Dana loved Sally and how she genuinely cared for every person she came across, whether she was working with them or not. Our hearts will have a big hole in them that will not be filled until we see Sally again. She even took some kids out to breakfast, the boys one day and the girls another. She will be missed and prayers coming your way for peace.

Dave, Gavin and family,
I want you all to know that I loved your Sally. I worked at Stevens and Summer school. She was the most wonderful spirit. Knowing her made me a better person. She was an infectious light. Everyone loved her, especially her students. Children that weren’t her students did as well.
Sally and I had such a loving connection. She always made me feel cared for, loved and included. We shared such a loving banter between us. For the last few years we joked about how I teased her that, “ man, that accent!, and I would say, as a student once asked me, “ Mrs. Reken, are you from Brooklyn!?” To that she would laugh and tease the heck out of me!
Sally was truly a “Light” and an amazing energy. I am going to miss her terribly.

My deepest condolences to her family. I had the pleasure to watch her work with kids. Truly amazing person. Taken to soon. She was an angel on earth, so she has her wings in heaven. Missed but not forgotten! I’m sure Stevens will find away to create a memorial in her honor.

Sally was a wonderful person with the biggest heart. She truly cared about kids and always found a way to bring humor to difficult situations. She had a gift for working with kids who had struggles and she was always able to turn the most difficult situation into a positive one.
She will be missed.

Good morning, I was deeply sadden to here about the passing of Sally. Both of my children had her in their classroom. My son had her this year and my daughter in kindergarten. Both of my children loved her and thought she was a great person. She always was happy to see them and she remembered my daughter all through her elementary years. She kept an eye on her. I always enjoyed seeing her at school and sometimes outside of school. We also had a similar interest of synchronized swimming.
She was a important part of Steven's staff and will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Thank you.

It is with such sadness that I write this condolence. Sally was such a vibrant and enthusiastic member of our Steven's staff. She made all members, students and adults alike, feel at ease. She made us smile and laugh daily. Her warm presence at school will be sorely missed. Sally will live on in the hearts and minds of all those that she touched. She was a very special person.
With love & sympathy,

Gavin and David, I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Sally’s passing. Both Nick and Annie shared fond memories of their time with her at Steven’s. Her generiousity and graciousness always inspired me as she would time after time take Nick for days at a time when I needed to be out of town. Embrace the memory of her radiant, contagious smile and laughter. May you both find peace in knowing that she had such a positive influence on so many young lives.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the Reken family on losing such a wonderful, kind, funny, unique and beautiful person. She was so special to everyone who knew her and was one of those people who you instantly felt drawn to with her loving, fun and upbeat nature. Being a fellow English girl like Sally, I loved to chat to her about our love of our home country and I will never forget her kind gesture of totally surprising me by leaving on my doorstep a goodie basket of English treats I had been missing, after only meeting me once. She was that kind of lady - giving and thoughtful. Stevens school and our children will deeply miss you, Mrs Reken. May you Rest In Peace.

My heartfelt sympathies to Sally’s family near and far and to the Steven’s school community. Sally was my son’s aide (and best friend) in kindergarten. Though she didn’t work directly with him as he progressed through the upper grades, she kept a close eye on him and kept in touch when we switched districts after 3rd grade. Sally was one of a kind. She truly cared for all of the students she worked with. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel.
