Obituary of William Joseph Kerley, Jr.

William Joseph Kerley, Jr., 92, of Clifton Park, NY passed away on February 1, 2018. A lifelong resident of Schenectady, NY, Bill was born to William Joseph Kerley and Anna Mae Harbison Kerley on 10/11/25. William graduated from Nott Terrace High School in 1944 at which time he enlisted in the Army and served from 1944 until 1946 as a WW II Army Paratrooper.

He graduated from Siena College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and began his life-long career in professional sales. William was the President and Owner of Culver Office Equipment, Inc., a successful office furniture dealer located in downtown Schenectady, from 1960 until 1977. He then became a multi-line office furniture representative covering upstate New York until retiring at age 80.

An avid sportsman, he was passionate about golf, downhill skiing and curling. He was a long-time member of the Schenectady Curling Club and the Edison Club. His family will be forever grateful for the many memorable times spent on the lakes and the ski slopes of his beloved Adirondack Mountains.

William was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Eleanor Francis Roach Kerley, on March 8, 2014. He is also predeceased by his sister, Winifred Kerley Rhyne.

He has four daughters, Patricia Harris (Ron), Katherine Primeau (Leo), Jane Fleury (Francis), Margaret de Koning (Kendrik); grandchildren, Lori (Jay Harrison) Jacobsen, Erin (Tim) Betler, Sarah Primeau, Michele (Patrick) Hill, Katherine (Jonathan) Gorom, Laura DiNicola, Jacqueline Young and Connor Young; and seven great-grandchildren. His brother in law F. Thomas (Rosanne) Roach and sister in law Patricia (the late J. Lynn) Kellam also survive.

A zest for life, an irreverent humor, and love of family are those things that he will be most remembered for. A kidney dialysis patient for the last 10 years, his family wishes to acknowledge the extraordinary care provided by the staff at the Rubin Dialysis Center, and sincere appreciation for the exceptional and loving care provided while living at Schuyler Ridge Residential Care. The Community Hospice of Saratoga provided their compassionate services in his final days.
