Obituary of Richard E. Keeler

 

Richard E. Keeler, 85, the beloved husband of Constance (Bopp) Keeler, passed away March 12, 2018.  He was born in Albany, NY on June 11, 1932.  He was predeceased by his parents, Charles E. and Mary Ruth (Newkirk) Keeler; brother, Gerald C. Keeler; Richard’s second wife, Lorraine Scheier (Klein) Keeler.

Raised in Rensselaer, NY, he was often found enjoying time at his grandparents’ farm in East Greenbush, NY. After graduating high school, he proudly served in the Marines during the Korean War. Until his retirement in 1998, he worked for the Western Electric Telephone Co., and Southwestern Bell. He married Constance Bopp on December 29, 1951; they remarried on December 29, 2007. Raising their family in the Albany area, until moving to Texas in 1974.  

He was a member of The Sons of The American Revolution. He had an excellent memory, loved history, enjoyed playing cards, was an avid sports fan and enjoyed trips to the casino.  

He will be dearly missed by his family, including his children Karen (David) Brown, of Wallingford, CT, Deborah (Joseph) Puglisi and Suzanne Greene of Scotia, NY, Richard J. Keeler (Charles Cabral) of Niskayuna, NY, David (Cyndi) Keeler of Leonard, TX and Mark (Laura) Keeler of Longview, TX, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, two sisters, Marjorie Burch and Gertrude Keeler, and his five step children, Alan (Mary) Klein, Jeffrey (Barbara) Klein, Robert (Jennifer) Klein, Nancy (Michael) Zollner and Lawrence (Lilly) Klein and their families.

Calling hours will be held at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., on Tuesday, March 20th, 9 to 11 am. Funeral Service at 11 AM followed by interment at the Gerald B.H. Soloman Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s name to the American Cancer Society.  Online condolences may be made at glenvillefuneralhome.com
